Remodeling Your Bathroom? 3 Things You Should Keep In Mind

A bathroom remodel is a big project to take on in your home. It can be somewhat costly, but it can give you back a lot in return. Bathrooms are a big selling point on a home, so if you're planning on selling anytime soon, this can be a good remodel to help you sell your home faster. Even if you don't plan on selling anytime soon, a bathroom remodel can give this room in your home a cleaner feel. If you are considering remodeling your bathroom, keep the following things in mind.

1. Consider A Full Bath

If you can, you should consider adding a full bath. This can up the value of your home, especially if it was just a half or a quarter bath, to begin with. If you have the space in your home, consider adding a bathtub/shower, along with a new sink and toilet. A bathtub is a nice addition to have in your home, and it can be useful if you have small children, or even if you just enjoy soaking in the tub from time to time. If there isn't a tub in your bathroom already, consider adding one.

2. Consider Adding Adding Extra Space

Most bathrooms in homes just aren't large enough. If there is a closet that can be removed or a small room next to the bathroom that isn't being used, you may be able to take space from these areas to add extra space to your bathroom to make it larger. This, again, can add value to your home. If you have a large family, it's nice to have a larger bathroom in which to get done with your morning routine without bumping into anyone else in the bathroom. The extra space in your bathroom can also allow you space for storage, in addition to a larger sink if needed.

3. Consider Your Decorative Taste

When you remodel your bathroom, you should consider your taste in decor. Don't put in anything that is too trendy or over the top, because styles change very often (think avocado green from the 1970s). Install a sink, a faucet, and lighting fixtures with this in mind. Use items that aren't too trendy so that if you want to change the look of your bathroom, these things will not need to be changed along with it later down the road. Find something appealing and that will still be appealing in another 5 years or more.
